Tree Trimming for a Veteran Homeowner in Fort Worth, TX

It was an honor to complete this tree trimming project for a fellow veteran in Fort Worth. As the owner of Case Tree Service and an Army veteran myself, I always enjoy the opportunity to serve those who have served our country. This project included professional tree trimming on four mature trees, with one tree requiring additional canopy raising to meet Fort Worth road clearance requirements and comply with city codes. All four trees received deadwood removal, canopy raising, and proper clearance from the home to improve safety, reduce the risk of storm damage, and promote long-term tree health. Before Live oak (Quercus virginiana) was trimmed

This live oak was in violation of street height clearance (14 feet required for roadside in Fort Worth), it was limiting visibility to the street sign and it was very dense with deadwood, and poor cuts that had quit growing. This tree was previously trimmed for the powerlines so there were a lot of branches cut to stubs and a few branches that were cut, but left in the canopy of the tree causing poor aesthetics.

Many of the branches were very close to the house and there was a lot of deadwood over the yard and house. The goal was to trim away from the house, remove the deadwood, and reduce weight on branches over the roof.

There was quite a bit of large deadwood over the driveway, shed and gate. The canopy was only a few feed over the gate aswell.

Canopy raised over the roadway, sign, and sidewalk to meet with Fort Worth tree ordinance. Deadwood was removed, we fixed the poor cuts that were limiting future growth made by a past tree cutter, and removed crossing and rubbing branches. All the cuts were made to encourage future growth to be above the height requirement of Fort Worth and were by an ISA Certified Arborist.

Our recommendation for a safe roof clearance is typically 3-5 ft in height, this customer wanted a bit higher than normal. With the deadwood removed there are less hazards over the house, yard, and sidewalk and the tree is able to seal over the old wounds.

The deadwood was removed, the canopy was raised over the fence and shed. The elm can now continue to thrive without the deadwood being a burden on it and threatening the cars and property underneath.
